Famous BB Members - Robert Baden-Powell

Dear friends from the Scout (Pengakap), just wondering did you ever notice that Scouts movement was actually started from the Boys' Brigade? Instead, founder of Scouts movement, Stephenson Smyth Baden-Powell, was a BB Officer back in 1900. Scouting Movemnent was first used in the BB for the Boys' Brigade Scout Section when Robert Baden-Powell served as the Brigade Secretary, and later the Vice-President of the Boys' Brigade.

Take a look at the pictures below. Are they Scouts or BB?

Trust me, they are BB members from Enfield companies. in the 1900s.

During my secondary school time, the Scouts and the BB were in constant argument on the fact that who was the first youth's uniform body. And somehow all this leads to conflicts between these two parties. When I look back now, I really think that we are really CHILDISH! Who cares who was the first, what is more important is WHAT IS OUR AIM! Both Scouts and BB movement are to HELP THE YOUTH TO GROW IN POSITIVE MANNER!

For your infomation Robert Baden-Powell (Founder of Scouts movement) and Sir William Alexander Smith (Founder of the Boys' Brigade) was actually FRIEND, and the Scouting Movement was to grow up in friendly parallel relations with the Boys' Brigade!

So please, my dear brothers and sisters from both the Scouts and BB, NO MORE ARGUMENT! We are all FRIENDS!!!

Thank You... huh!

BB 18th Pesta - Day Two

The schedule for the second day were kind of tight, for us from Sarawak, our breakfast time is from 6:30am to 7:00am, which means we have to wake up by 5:30am to wash up and stuff. After breakfast, we proceed to Dewan Kuliah Perdana for the morning devotion. We were transfered by shuttle bus which look like this:

Yes, nothing wrong with your eyes. Its written there BUS BERHENTI-HENTI... move... stop... move... stop... move... stop...

It took quite awhile because the bus keep move and stop, move and stop... somehow the NCO incharge told the bus driver Dewan Perdana (which is somewhere outside UMS) instead of Dewan Kuliah Perdana.

Below are some of the picture taken during the morning devotion.

After the morning devotion, we then heading towards KDCA hall for the Sabah Pesta Kaamatan.

I don't really enjoy the Pesta Kaamatan, not because it was not good, but because of time constrain...

Up next, the opening ceremony. IT'S A FAILURE!!! Reason? not going to say it now...

At the night time, we have our practice for the bamboo dance.

That's all for now...

BB 18th Pesta - Day One

After a "good night sleep", we all wake up very early on the 30th May 2008. After wash up, we proceed to the cafeteria for the breakfast. We are served with fried rice and egg.

After got ourself officially registered for the Pesta, we proceed with our (self-organized) KK town trip. We waited for bus awhile at the bus stop, then one of the Sabahan officer told us that 30th of May is a public holiday for Sabah and NO BUS ARE OPERATING inside UMS! We were like @$%^%^$$... and no choice, we have to walk from Kampung E (where we stay) to the bus stop outside UMS.

As I said in the previous post, UMS wasn't a good place for you to travel by legs because there are alot of hills. So basically we are going up and down hills repeatedly. But on the bright side, we got the chance to see most of the building in the UMS.

After walking for about half an hour, we finally got ourself to the bus stop opposite UMS to wait for public bus. Basically, that bus stop is just a stopping point for the bus WITH NO SHADES AT ALL! Huh...so we have to wait like for about 15 minutes for bus to come under the hot sun. When the bus finally came, we got ourself into the small bus and it was so pack that we have to stand in the middle of people like sardin. The Boys were at the back while Lt. Adrian and me were in the front part of the bus. Lt. Adrian and me have prepared our money in our hand and was waiting for people to come and collect from us. But the weird thing is until we reach our destination, there was no one came and collect from us at all! I was thinking that, WOW, Sabah actually provides FREE SHUTTLE BUS for their citizen! But later our Boys told us that they actually paid for the ride. Maybe the bus is too full that the bus the guy can't even move to the front. So lucky us, free ride!

Lt. Adrian ever stayed in KK for about 2 months for his job, so basically he was our own tour guide for the day. He first brought us to a shopping centre, forgot what's the name but it is a place full of handphone shop. The air-conditioning in that whole place actually not functioning at its so hot inside!

After an hour, Lt. Adrian brought us to the other shopping centre which is just a street away. And the first thing I saw when I walked into the shopping centre was...

Ok, I'm not suppose to show that!

After done with the shopping centres, we moved on to the sea side for...

YEAH, for CHIVAS!!!

At...

THE COCK AND BULL BISTRO... why don't they change it to COCK & PUSSY BISTRO?

Then we proceed to...

YEAH RIGHT... as if those place are open in the day time... our Boys are actually very innocent, they only have alcohol in chuch, during the communion, and they only sing in church, not karaoke. Can't believe? Well, look at the photo below, the corporal was so innocent that he don't even know what is Chivas... he only drink black label.

Ok, lets get back to the track. Basically the whole street beside the sea were full of bistro, karaoke, pub, lounge... which only operates at night time. So when the sun is still up in the skies, those place are just so dead.

About 4:00 pm, we move to another shopping centre and wait for our transpot together with members from 4th Kuching Company.

About 4.45, our transport finally came...

Ok, we went back by bus...

The Boys' Brigade in Malaysia 18th Pesta - Kota Kinabalu

The Boys' Brigade in Malaysia was held on 30 May - 4 June 2008, at University Malaysia Sabah (UMS). 2 Officers and 8 Boys from 3rd Kuching flew off to Kota Kinabalu (KK) on the 29th of May to participate in this Pesta. The 8 Boys were Cpl. Thomas, L/Cpl. Ianlevi, Pte. Morven, Pte. Barry, Pte. Keith, Pte. Claudius, Pte. Hansel and Pte. Paul and accompanied by Lt. Adrian and Me!

I actually took alot of videos and pictures during the Pesta, but sadly, my 4Gb SDHC card give me some problem and caused me to lost all those picture and vidoes taken using my Sanyo Xacti. Anyway, I'll just go on with those photos I have now.

We arrived UMS about 5pm on the 29th of May, which is one day before the actual thing started. We faced some problem with the accomodation but with the help of Capt. Foo, everything was settled before the night. We had our dinner at the cafeteria after shower and the Boys proceeded to the cyber cafe. Lt. Adrian, Cpl. Thomas, 2 officers from 4th Kuching and myself than get ourself familiar with the place by walking around to explore UMS.

Exploring UMS

Well, a little comment on UMS - it's a nice university, but not really good if you travel by legs cause too many hills around. The hostel stink... as usual for most of the university and I STILL LOVE UNIMAS BECAUSE WE HAVE THE BEST HOSTEL, or at least better than UMS.
